


Moderating Temperatures for the East; Developing Storm for the Plains
Temperatures will continue to moderate across the east half of the nation through at least the first half of this week. A developing storm across the Southern Plains may bring some heavy rain from the Plains to the lower Great Lakes region, a wintry mixture and accumulating snow across the Midwest and Upper Mississippi Valley into mid-week. The west remains unsettled with occasional rain and snow.

Strong northwest winds with gale force gusts likely this
afternoon and tonight. Showers expected through much of the day,
with some thunderstorms possible, mainly north of Pigeon Point.
These storms may bring locally gusty, erratic winds. Showers
dissipate tonight and winds will gradually diminish through the
night and into Monday. Building northwest swell tonight keeps
conditions hazardous for small craft through Monday into Tuesday
as wave heights reach 14 to 16 feet.
