Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Spokane WA
947 PM PDT Tue Aug 13 2024

.SYNOPSIS...
Tonight will be cool with low temperatures dipping into the 50s
across much of the Inland Northwest. A break in showers and
thunderstorms comes Wednesday before more unsettled conditions
return late Thursday into the weekend. Daytime temperatures will
be near normal through the week.

.DISCUSSION...

Showers and thunderstorms quickly dissipated early this evening.
With only marginal instability across north Central Washington
this afternoon, cells weakened by 6 pm. Bands of light rain over
the central and southern Idaho Panhandle also diminished after
keeping Lewiston, Pullman and the southern Pahandle unseasonably
cool this afternoon. The remainder of the night will be cool as
the circulation over the Idaho Panhandle shears apart leading to
mainly clear skies. Overnight lows in the 50s will be common
across the Inland Northwest. Sheltered spots in northeast
Washington and north Idaho will likely dip into the 40s including
places like Deer Park, Colville, and spots around Republic.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny with relatively light winds and
seasonably warm temperatures. The Inland Northwest will be in
between systems tomorrow, but chances for showers and
thunderstorms will return Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with the
best chances for measurable precipitation over the mountains.

.AVIATION...
06Z TAFS: The Inland Northwest will be in between systems on
Wednesday. Look for light winds and mainly clear skies east of the
Cascades. Fire activity in Washington has decreased in recent
days with several fires in the Cascades receiving some rain. If no
new fires develop, visibility should be VFR across central and
eastern Washington as well as north Idaho Wednesday and Wednesday
night.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE AND/OR ALTERNATE SCENARIOS: Confidence is high
for VFR conditions. /GKoch
