Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Spokane WA
240 PM PDT Fri Jul 12 2024

.SYNOPSIS...
While the extreme heat has eased, it will stay hot, dry and
locally breezy through next week. Areas of haze and smoke will
linger over the Inland NW from local fires.

&&

.DISCUSSION...
Tonight through next Friday: The ridge will remain across the
region bringing above average temperatures for the next 7+ days.
Lows will be 3 to 8 degrees above average, and highs 7 to 13
degrees above average. The heat advisory has been expanded to
include much of eastern WA and the Idaho Panhandle through Sunday
for temperatures in the mid 90s to 105 and lows in the upper 50s
and 60s.

The other area of concern is the breezy winds we will be seeing
each late afternoon and evening across central WA. While these
conditions are expected everyday for the next week, the forecast
models are showing slightly stronger wind speeds and gusts for
Sunday, and slightly lesser for Monday as well. We have decided to
issue a Fire Weather Watch for the Wenatchee area and Waterville
Plateau for Sunday. Relative humidity values of 10 to 18 percent
coupled with westerly winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph
will create critical conditions for any new or existing fires.

Smoke and hazy skies will continue across the Lake Chelan area and
onto portions of the Waterville Plateau and Columbia Basin.
Elevated hazy skies are expected region wide. /Nisbet
