


Moderating Temperatures for the East; Developing Storm for the Plains
Temperatures will continue to moderate across the east half of the nation through at least the first half of this week. A developing storm across the Southern Plains may bring some heavy rain from the Plains to the lower Great Lakes region, a wintry mixture and accumulating snow across the Midwest and Upper Mississippi Valley into mid-week. The west remains unsettled with occasional rain and snow.

Synopsis: High pressure ridge over the marine area today drifts
east through midweek as a storm system develops over the central
part of the country. A light northeast to east flow today will
become more southeasterly tonight, with an onshore flow then gradually
increasing, along with building seas, through midweek to late
week. A frontal boundary will move east across the marine area
late Thursday or early Friday, with a moderate to strong offshore
flow developing in its wake.
