Heavy Rains and Severe Weather Expected Across the Southern Plains into the Ohio Valley

A nearly stationary frontal boundary will bring potential for heavy rainfall and flash flooding from Oklahoma into the Ohio River Valley over the next few days. Severe weather is also expected for parts the Southern Plains and the Lower Mississippi River Valley on Thursday and Friday with threats of tornadoes, strong winds and hail. Snow is expected for parts of the Cascades and Northern Rockies.

Synopsis: There will be a brief break in conditions tonight, then another system passes through the region on Thursday. This will bring another round of gusty south to southwest winds along with an increase in wind driven seas. In addition, a heavy, long period northwest swell will follow late Thursday into Friday, resulting in very steep and hazardous seas. Seas peak early Friday, then gradually diminish but remain steep through Saturday.
