Tropical System in the Gulf of Mexico; Excessive Rainfall and Severe Storm Potential for the Plains

A tropical system in the Gulf of Mexico is forecast to track southward and away from Florida; However, this system will enhance rainfall potential across South Florida through Friday. Meanwhile, heavy to excessive rainfall and severe thunderstorms are expected for portions of the Plains. For the Great Lakes, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, new daily record high temperatures are expected later Friday.
