Tracking a Strong Cold Front Crossing the Central to Eastern States into the Weekend

A strong cold front will cross the Rockies today, Midwest Friday, Great Lakes to Mississippi Valley Saturday, then East Coast on Sunday with areas of showers and thunderstorms. Cold high pressure in the wake of the front will bring areas of gusty winds and snow to the Rockies and Plains today into Saturday. Severe thunderstorms will be possible Saturday from east Texas into the Mid to Deep South.

Synopsis: A 997 mb low 40 nm South of Cordova moves inland at 1006 mb by Thu afternoon. A 996 mb low enters the Gulf 80 nm southwest of Homer late Thu morning and pushes northeastward. Its front wraps over the North Gulf Coast through Fri afternoon.
