Extreme Risk of Fire Weather Conditions in the Southern High Plains on Sunday

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued an Extreme Risk of fire weather conditions for parts of eastern New Mexico, the Texas Panhandle and West Texas on Sunday. Very dry ground fuels and ongoing drought across this region will allow for extreme rates of fire spread given sustained winds of 30-40 mph. Critical Risk is also in effect for larger portion of Central and Southern High Plains.
