This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the open waters of Lake Michigan.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Gusty south winds will develop today, with gales expected from
middle morning through middle afternoon over the middle third of
the open waters. A Gale Warning is in effect for this area.

Gusty west to northwest winds are then expected into tonight,
after a cold frontal passage.

A few thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and early evening
over southern portions of the lake. Small hail and gusty winds
may occur with the strongest storms.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Gusty northwest winds will linger into Wednesday.

Gusty south to southwest winds are expected Friday into Friday
night.

There are chances for thunderstorms this weekend into early next
week.

...GALE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM THIS MORNING TO 5 PM
CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...South winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts between 35 and 40 kt
  and waves 6 to 9 ft expected.

* WHERE...Central Third of the Open Waters of Lake Michigan, south
  of a line from Rock Island Passage to Charlevoix MI to north of
  a line from North Point Lighthouse WI to Grand Haven MI.

* WHEN...From 9 AM to 5 PM CDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could
  capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions.
Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the
vessel for severe conditions.
