A few storms could become strong to severe. The greatest risk locally will generally be across areas along and north of a line from Baton Rouge to Tickfaw to Franklinton. The risk will begin mid-day around the Atchafalya River and will progress eastward reaching the Mississippi Coast and far southeastern Louisiana this evening. The main threats from any storms that do become severe will be damaging wind gusts and large hail. However, an isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out. Strengthening winds ahead of the cold front will result in hazard conditions for small craft. Exercise caution headlines are in effect for today and will likely be needed tonight as well. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday Moderate to strong winds in the wake of the cold front will continue to result in hazardous conditions for small craft through at least Monday. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a Small Craft Advisory, which is in effect from midnight tonight to noon CST Sunday. * WINDS...North 20 to 25 knots. * WAVES/SEAS...seas building to 3 to 5 feet on the protected waters and 5 to 7 feet on open waters. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 20 to 33 knots are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft. Inexperienced mariners...especially those operating smaller vessels should avoid navigating in these conditions. && $$
