Through 100 pm, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will
move generally to the southwest at 10 to 15 knots across Hawk Channel
and the Florida Straits south of the Island Chain, as well as the
Middle and Upper Keys and the adjacent Florida Bay. The strongest
activity in the Straits of Florida south of the Middle and Upper Keys
will approach Hawk Channel and then the Island Chain, capable of
producing blinding downpours, wind gusts 25 to 30 knots, and
occasional cloud to surface lightning strikes. Several island
communities between Pigeon Key and Tavernier can expect between a
quarter to one half of an inch of rainfall.
