At 1218 PM EDT, National Weather Service meteorologists detected a a
strong thunderstorm, capable of producing wind gusts near 30 knots.
This thunderstorm was located over Tennessee Reef Light, moving west
at 10 knots.

Locations that will be affected include...
Tavernier Creek, Bonefish Tower, Tennessee Reef Light, French Ref,
Twin Keys, Money Key, and Cotton Key.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Prepare for thunderstorms with wind gusts near 30 knots, locally
rough and confused seas, occasional lightning strikes, and
potentially blinding downpours. Get to a safe port as quickly, and as
safely as possible. When downpours reduce visibility, slow down.

.NOW...
Through 100 pm, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will
move generally to the southwest at 10 to 15 knots across Hawk Channel
and the Florida Straits south of the Island Chain, as well as the
Middle and Upper Keys and the adjacent Florida Bay. The strongest
activity in the Straits of Florida south of the Middle and Upper Keys
will approach Hawk Channel and then the Island Chain, capable of
producing blinding downpours, wind gusts 25 to 30 knots, and
occasional cloud to surface lightning strikes. Several island
communities between Pigeon Key and Tavernier can expect between a
quarter to one half of an inch of rainfall.
