Through 100 pm, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will move generally to the southwest at 10 to 15 knots across Hawk Channel and the Florida Straits south of the Island Chain, as well as the Middle and Upper Keys and the adjacent Florida Bay. The strongest activity in the Straits of Florida south of the Middle and Upper Keys will approach Hawk Channel and then the Island Chain, capable of producing blinding downpours, wind gusts 25 to 30 knots, and occasional cloud to surface lightning strikes. Several island communities between Pigeon Key and Tavernier can expect between a quarter to one half of an inch of rainfall. $$
