This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the Maryland portion of the
Chesapeake Bay, Tidal Potomac River, and I-95 corridor through
central Maryland, northern Virginia, and District of Columbia.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

A Flood Watch is in effect from 2PM this afternoon through this
evening. Scattered instances of flooding are expected. There is a
potential for more widespread flooding with considerable impact.

A few severe thunderstorms are also possible which may bring
isolated instances of damaging wind gusts.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday

Scattered instances of flash flooding are possible Tuesday
afternoon.

  Chesapeake Bay north of Pooles Island MD...
  Patapsco River including Baltimore Harbor...

* Until 730 PM EDT.

* At 555 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line
  extending from 14 nm northwest of Havre De Grace to 11 nm west of
  Middle River to 14 nm northeast of Key Bridge, moving east at 20
  knots.

  HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Boaters in small craft could be thrown overboard by
           suddenly higher winds and waves capsizing their vessel.

* Locations impacted include...
  Fort Smallwood State Park, Turkey Point, North Point State Park,
  Hart Miller Island, Bodkin Point, Tolchester Beach, Worton Point,
  Pooles Island, Spesutie Island, Northeast River, Sevenfoot Knoll,
  Havre De Grace, and Aberdeen Proving Ground.

...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING THE WATERS...

The areas affected include...
  Chesapeake Bay from Pooles Island to Sandy Point MD...
  Chesapeake Bay north of Pooles Island MD...
  Patapsco River including Baltimore Harbor...

At 525 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were
located along a line extending from 22 nm northwest of Gunpowder
River to 16 nm north of Key Bridge, moving east at 20 knots.

Locations impacted include...
Fort Smallwood State Park, Pinehurst, North Point State Park, Hart
Miller Island, Magothy River, Gunpowder River, Gibson Island,
Baltimore Light, Bodkin Point, Pooles Island, and Sevenfoot Knoll.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

These strong thunderstorms will likely produce winds to around 30
knots, and could pose a serious hazard for boaters. A special marine
warning may eventually be required when these strong thunderstorms
reaches the nearshore waters. Boaters should consider heading for
shore before these strong thunderstorms arrives.

Intense lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.
