.NOW...
Through 1000 pm, a band of showers and embedded strong thunderstorms,
accompanied by a shelf cloud as seen earlier on webcams around the
Lower Keys continues to move mainly east to southeast between 10 to
15 knots across western Hawk Channel, the Straits of Florida mainly
south of the Lower Keys and Middle Keys, the Bayside/Gulfside waters,
the Lower Keys, Middle Keys, and Florida Bay. Mariners encountering
this activity can expect reduced visibility to less than 1 mile,
especially inside thunderstorm activity, wind gusts to near or in
excess of 30 knots, and occasional cloud to ground lightning strikes.
The stronger activity will be handled with Special Marine Warnings.
On land, expect rainfall amounts of a half to three quarters of an
inch with locally higher amounts in excess of three quarters of an
inch for the Middle Keys with additional rainfall amounts up to a
quarter inch across the Lower Keys with isolated pockets of greater
than a quarter inch. For the offshore Gulf waters, and the
westernmost Straits of Florida, a stratiform rain continues.
