Drone footage provided additional views of the start and end point of this tornado, courtesy of Jackson County EMA. The tornado began in a creek on the property at this location, snapping and uprooting numerous hardwood and softwood trees as it approached the house. The house had minor structural damage consisting of missing shingles and damage to a few gutters. In the front yard of the home, a small chicken coop was destroyed and a hay-barn-like structure covering the tractor was destroyed as well. The tornado continued moving northeast as it approached the ridge to the east, ending in a flat area on the top of the ridge just beyond Hwy 65. For now, this is the end point of the tornado. Pending further satellite imagery within the next week, the end point may be extended when/if this data becomes available. .New Market Tornado... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 90 mph Path Length /statute/: 5.51 miles Path Width /maximum/: 60 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 06/22/2026 Start Time: 03:58 PM CDT Start Location: 2 SW New Market / Madison County / AL Start Lat/Lon: 34.8935 / -86.4468 End Date: 06/22/2026 End Time: 04:04 PM CDT End Location: 4 ENE New Market / Madison County / AL End Lat/Lon: 34.917 / -86.3541 Survey Summary: The tornado touchdown southwest of the pond located in Sharon Johnson Park snapping the first initial softwood trees and downing large branches on the property. The tornado continued across the pond, spraying leaf debris across a wide area, before crossing the property line behind the RV park on the premises, further snapping additional hard and soft wood trees.The tornado then crossed Winchester Road and produced additional damage along Frank Hereford Road. Several trees were sporadically snapped and uprooted along this road, on the farms that dotted the landscape between Hurricane Road and Frank Hereford Road. The road network in this area was too rural for additional specific roadways near the damage other than farmland.Damage was noted on Hurricane Road close to Mountain Fork Road, where a few trees were snapped. In this location, 5 to 6 wooden power poles were snapped. This was not due to the tornado, it was due to the force of the 70 MPH winds from the line of severe storms moving through the area. Specific convergent tornado damage was noted in this area separate from the damage associated with the line of storms, which matches up very well with radar data that survey teams interrogated. After producing this damage, the tornado climbed up and over Backbone Mountain, before producing the final damage found on the survey today along Upper Hurricane Creek Road. In this location, the tornado was at its widest (approximately 60 yards) and produced additional hard and soft tree damage. Trees were snapped and uprooted in this area, concurrent with the final rating of EF1 tornado with 90 MPH winds.The Jackson County line is located approximately 1/4 mile to the northeast of this point. For now, the tornado stops at this point, but it is believed that the tornado continued into portions of Jackson County Alabama and Franklin County Tennessee. Pending additional surveys later this week, this will mark the end point of the tornado for now. .New Market Satellite Tornado... Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 80 mph Path Length /statute/: 2.75 miles Path Width /maximum/: 30 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 06/22/2026 Start Time: 04:03 PM CDT Start Location: 2 ESE New Market / Madison County / AL Start Lat/Lon: 34.8924 / -86.3864 End Date: 06/22/2026 End Time: 04:06 PM CDT End Location: 4 ENE New Market / Madison County / AL End Lat/Lon: 34.9158 / -86.3599 Survey Summary: A small satellite tornado developed to the south of the New Market Tornado, with damage first noted along Hurricane Rd. at 4:03 PM. At this point, trunks of large hardwood trees were partially snapped. The satellite tornado then traveled cyclonically within the circulation of the New Market Tornado, crossing the southern end of Backbone Mountain. Shortly before the satellite tornado merged with the New Market Tornado, it produced sporadic hard and soft wood tree damage along Upper Hurricane Road. .Scenic Hills Tornado... Rating: EF1 Estimated Peak Wind: 107 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.72 miles Path Width /maximum/: 160 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 06/22/2026 Start Time: 04:18 PM CDT Start Location: 4 SSE Huntland / Franklin County / TN Start Lat/Lon: 34.996 / -86.2596 End Date: 06/22/2026 End Time: 04:19 PM CDT End Location: 4 SSE Huntland / Franklin County / TN End Lat/Lon: 34.9986 / -86.2477 Survey Summary: The third area of rotation investigated today produced another tornado track along Scenic Hills Rd. Several trees were either snapped or uprooted and some tin was peeled off a shed. A power pole was also snapped at a residence where additional trees were snapped and uprooted. The tornado continued skipping along the field as it approached the ridgeline to the east, snapping and uprooting numerous hardwood trees. Here, it produced 107 mph winds damage, consistent with an EF1 tornado. No further damage was noted across Hwy 65 on Koger Lane, ending the track at this location. .Francisco Tornado... Rating: EF0 Estimated Peak Wind: 85 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.16 miles Path Width /maximum/: 60 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 06/22/2026 Start Time: 04:18 PM CDT Start Location: 4 SSE Huntland / Jackson County / AL Start Lat/Lon: 34.9888 / -86.2502 End Date: 06/22/2026 End Time: 04:19 PM CDT End Location: 4 SSE Huntland / Jackson County / AL End Lat/Lon: 34.9896 / -86.2475 Survey Summary: The second area of rotation investigated by the survey team found several trees between 8-10 inches in diameter snapped between 6- 12 feet up on the trees along Hwy 65 near County Road 233. Several smaller snapped trees and one larger tree were seen at this location. Tree damage here was found to be consistent with an EF0 tornado, producing 85 mph winds. .Capshaw Wind Event... Rating: TSTM/Wind Estimated Peak Wind: 73 mph Path Length /statute/: 10.77 miles Path Width /maximum/: 907 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 06/22/2026 Start Time: 07:08 PM CDT Start Location: 5 NW Madison / Limestone County / AL Start Lat/Lon: 34.7744 / -86.7959 End Date: 06/22/2026 End Time: 07:28 PM CDT End Location: 4 N Huntsville / Madison County / AL End Lat/Lon: 34.7634 / -86.6071 Survey Summary: NWS personnel conducted a storm survey from eastern Limestone County into western Madison County, evaluating damage associated with a storm that had rotational radar signatures. The thunderstorm damage was very sporadic in nature from just north of Clift Farm in western Madison County, extending eastward along and north of Highway 72, ending just before Research Park Boulevard. The damage consisted of an uprooted tree or two, some large limbs down, and damage to a couple of fences. Overall, the damage was not consistent and constant enough to be confidently labeled a convergent damage pattern indicative of a tornado.
