.KEY MESSAGES...

- Mostly dry with above normal temperatures Monday before a cool
down to near normal Tuesday and Wednesday, and then returning to
above normal temperatures the remainder of the week and weekend.

- Strong and gusty westerly winds will develop on Monday and
persist through the weekend across southwest Wyoming and along
the ridgetops and leeward side of terrain of central and
  northern Utah.

.DISCUSSION...High pressure will start to flatten on Monday as the
jet to our north sags further south and approaches northern Utah.
Temperatures on Monday will remain unseasonably warm with highs
~10 degrees above normal for this time of year. Southwesterly
winds will increase, particularly across southwestern Utah, ahead
of a weak cold front that will push through Monday night. Winds
will remain below advisory levels, though.

The front that will move through will likely be dry as only ~40%
of EC ensembles (no GEFS or CAN members) have very light
precipitation across northern Utah. With the jet stream remaining
just to our north and east, a tightening pressure gradient will
induce strong westerly/northwesterly winds across southwest
Wyoming and along/east of the terrain of northern and portions of
central Utah for much of the week and into the weekend. EFI is
highlighting southwest Wyoming Thursday-Saturday as the time for
strongest winds. However, the magnitudes of these wind gusts is
likely (95% chance) to remain below 58 mph.

Temperatures will increase again by midweek with highs ~10 degrees
above normal across the north and 15-20 degrees above normal
across southern Utah. As the jet stream stays in this zonal flow
pattern to our north there will be opportunities for it to bring
some moisture into the northern portion of the CWA by later into
the weekend. 61% of ensemble members bring light precipitation
into northern Utah/SW Wyoming by Sunday.

.AVIATION...KSLC...VFR conditions will prevail through the TAF
period. Southerly winds are expected to prevail through at least
Monday morning, with a switch to northwest during the later part of
the afternoon, most likely between 20-23z. Occasional mid and high
clouds will pass over the area overnight into Monday afternoon
before midlevel clouds increase for the evening hours.

.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...VFR conditions will prevail
through the TAF period across all terminals of Utah and southwest
Wyoming. Diurnally driven flows are expected across a majority of
the area; however, gusty west to southwest winds with peak gusts
around 25-30kts will prevail in southwest Wyoming for Monday
afternoon.
