[Tonight through Saturday night]...Latest satellite loops show convection associated with a trough, gradually diminishing through the day. The upper air sounding from this afternoon reflects this trend as moisture and instability have become more stable compared to the sounding from last night. However, showers may continue to develop in the area for as long as the trough persists. Expect the trough to linger over the Samoa Islands through Saturday, before gradually diminishing Saturday night as it weakens. Hence, numerous showers and North winds of 10 to 15 mph will hold through Saturday night. .Long term... [Sunday through Friday]...By Sunday an east breeze will prevail across the region. A ridge from a dominant high pressure system to the east is forecast to hold easterly trades up to around 20 mph with passing showers. Expect these conditions to remain through the end of the forecast period. && .Marine... A high surf advisory was issued this afternoon due to south swells impacting south facing shores. The PacIOOS buoy reported wave heights near 8 feet with peak periods up to 13 seconds. These observations indicate surfs over 10 feet, and possible strong rip currents. However, as swells subside Saturday, expect surfs to also diminish in the area. Easterly tradewinds may produce textured seas for the new week. However, ocean conditions are expected to remain below advisory thresholds. && .PPG WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... High Surf Advisory && $$ TM
