Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
323 PM EDT Tue May 12 2026

.DISCUSSION...
Low fire weather concerns into the end of the week. Dew points
have dropped into the 30s across inland areas allowing MinRHs to
reach into the 30s across ENC today. However, with light winds not
expecting any fire weather concerns this afternoon. Winds become
S`rly on Wed out ahead of an approaching front which will also
allow for some moisture return resulting in higher MinRHs and thus
minimal fire weather concerns through midweek. While a front will
move through Wed night into Thursday not expecting much in the way
of QPF. Light winds but MinRHs above 30% into this weekend should
preclude any fire danger.
