.DISCUSSION...
The Lower Yukon Valley to the YK Delta and along the coast of
Norton Sound is currently receiving widespread wetting rains as a
low moves into the Bering Sea. Tuesday, the rain will be spreading
north with showers towards Ambler and steadier south and west of
there. The rain will diminish into showers gradually through the
day and completely end by Wednesday morning. When it`s all said
and done, around 0.25 to 0.50" of rain will have fallen from the
Seward Peninsula south and east, with lesser amounts east of
Galena/McGrath. Temperatures will then rise as high pressure
builds on the North Slope into the 70s and 80s across much of the
area by Wednesday and more so Thursday. Min RHs will not be an
issue through Tuesday but will drop into the 30s on Wednesday in
the Interior, then continue gradually dropping through the end of
the week. Southeast winds will be gusty through Wednesday
afternoon, especially south and west of Galena, then weaken on
Thursday. Some isolated thunderstorms return Wednesday afternoon
and are expected in an area from Noatak to Ambler to Galena.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible across the entire Western
Interior Thursday afternoon.
