...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT /8 PM
MST/ THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions for the last day of September
  and early October with record to near record high temperatures of
  108 to 112 degrees.

* WHERE...Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Lake Havasu and Fort
  Mohave, and San Bernardino County-Upper Colorado River Valley.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM PDT /8 PM MST/ Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during
  extreme heat events, especially at the end of record-breaking
  summer heat.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments.

  and Morongo Basin.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM PDT /8 PM MST/ Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during
  extreme heat events, especially at the end of record-breaking
  summer heat.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions for the last day of September
  and early October are expected. Temperatures in the lower
  elevations of Death Valley National Park will top out around 110
  to 115 degrees each afternoon.

* WHERE...Death Valley National Park.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM PDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during
  extreme heat events, especially at the end of record-breaking
  summer heat.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
