.DISCUSSION...It will be partly cloudy today with chances for
showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs will range from
the lower 80s to lower 90s. Winds will shift northwest behind a
cool front most places, becoming sustained at 15 to 25 mph with
gusts to around 35 mph. The exception will be south central SD
where winds will remain southerly at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts to
30 mph. Minimum relative humidity will generally range from 40 to
55 percent, driest in far southwest SD where RH could drop to 25
percent.

...MODERATE FIRE DANGER...

The grassland fire danger index will reach the moderate category
this afternoon. Marginal weather conditions or a lowering
moisture content of grasses, and other dry organic material on
the ground, indicate that there is some potential for a fire
to spread. Any outdoor burning should be closely monitored.

The outlook for Tuesday afternoon, The grassland fire danger
index will reach the low category to moderate category.

The grassland fire danger index will reach the low category this
afternoon. Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that the probability of a fast moving fire is low.
Outdoor burning under these conditions can usually be performed
with reasonable safety precautions, but should be monitored.
