Fire Weather Planning Forecast
National Weather Service Topeka KS
152 PM CDT Sun Mar 9 2025

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM CDT MONDAY...

.DISCUSSION...

This afternoon, winds should remain between 5 and 15 mph with
minimum relative humidity dropping to 20 to 25 percent. Conditions
become more extreme tomorrow as temperatures rapidly warm.
Boundary layer mixing through the afternoon will allow drier air
to mix down, putting minimum relative humidity between 15 and 20
percent area-wide. Southwest winds will also quickly increase into
the afternoon hours with gusts as high as 25 to 30 mph. These
weather conditions combined with dry fuels will lead to extreme
fire conditions. Thus, a Red Flag Warning has been issued for
tomorrow (Monday) from noon until 8 PM for the entire forecast
area.
