THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE YEAR WAS THE SECOND WARMEST OF ANY YEAR ON RECORD...TRAILING 2012 BY ONE DEGREE. THE WINTER SEASON ENDING IN FEBRUARY ALONG WITH THE SPRING AND AUTUMN ALL HAD THEIR TEMPERATURES IN THE TOP SIX ON RECORD...WHILE THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR FIVE MONTHS PLACED IN THE TOP FIFTEEN ON RECORD. THE WARMTH IN SPRING HELPED KEEP ITS SNOWFALL AS THE FIFTH-LOWEST ON RECORD. TWO MONTHS HAD TOTAL PRECIPITATION IN THE TOP TWELVE ON RECORD...BUT OVERALL THE YEAR/S PRECIPITATION WAS NEAR THE MEDIAN OF ALL YEARS ON RECORD. THE YEAR STARTED WITH A NOTABLE COLD SPELL...HOWEVER. HIGH TEMPERATURES ONLY REACHED THE SINGLE DIGITS ABOVE ZERO FROM JANUARY 13 THROUGH 15 WHICH TIED FOR THE THIRD-LONGEST SUCH STRETCH ON RECORD. WIND CHILL VALUES OF -15 TO -25 WERE COMMON FROM JANUARY 13 THROUGH JANUARY 16...AND -15 READINGS RETURNED ON THE MORNINGS OF JANUARY 19 AND 20. FEBRUARY SAW RECORD HIGHS SET ON TWO DAYS AND RECORD HIGHEST MINIMUMS ON THREE DAYS. A STRONG COLD FRONT CAUSED TEMPERATURES TO FALL FROM 75 TO 22 ON FEBRUARY 27 WITH LIGHT SNOW FOLLOWING. THE FIRST HALF OF APRIL WAS THE FIFTH DRIEST ON RECORD WHILE THE SECOND HALF WAS WAS THE SEVENTH WETTEST. NEARLY HALF THE DAYS IN MAY HAD MEASURABLE PRECIPITATION BUT THE MONTH/S TOTAL WAS ABOUT HALF OF NORMAL. HEAT INDICES REACHED AROUND 108 DEGREES ON JUNE 13, 24, 25, AND 28, THEN AROUND 111 ON JULY 14, 15, 29, 30, AND 31, AND FINALLY AROUND 106 FROM AUGUST 24 THROUGH 27. ALL OF SEPTMEBER/S PRECIPITATION FELL FROM SEPTEMBER 19 THROUGH 23. THE RECORD HIGH OF 92 DEGREES ON OCTOBER 24 ALSO WAS THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE SO LATE IN THE YEAR. RECORD PRECIPITATION LEVELS WERE SET ON THREE DAYS IN NOVEMBER...INCLUDING THE MOST SNOW IN ONE DAY FOR THE YEAR AT 3.3 INCHES ON NOVEMBER 30.
