.DISCUSSION...

A northwest flow aloft persists across the region through the
next several days downstream of an upper level ridge of high
pressure centered over the Pacific NW. A shallow cool/moist
airmass will spread low clouds across the plains adjacent to the
Sweet Grass Hills tonight, where some fog is also possible but
Mount Royal is likely to remain above a low-level temperature
inversion and lower clouds with just thin high cloud-cover
at times through Thursday.

Looking ahead, a series of weather disturbances moving over the
upper level ridge will bring a faster westerly flow and increasing
winds Friday and Saturday. Strong west winds are likely to
develop Saturday with gusts in excess of 50 mph likely (60-70%)
late Saturday. A cold front moves through the area Saturday night
followed by a shift to gusty northwest winds with colder
temperatures and snow developing on Sunday.
