453 FNUS55 KTFX 060949 FWFTFX Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North-Central Montana National Weather Service Great Falls MT 349 AM MDT Wed Aug 6 2025 .DISCUSSION... Dry and breezy conditions are expected through the late afternoon hours today before an approaching Pacific trough and attendant cold front brings a couple of waves of showers and thunderstorms tonight through Thursday evening. Localized strong wind gusts and lightning will be the primary hazards west of I15 while areas to the east may also observe hail and brief heavy downpours. Afternoon temperatures cool as much as 10 to 20 degrees below average on Friday with breezy to windy conditions and periods of showers and embedded thunderstorms. The colder air aloft may even initiate some light snow over the highest mountain peaks Friday morning, especially over the central island ranges.
