Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service San Juan PR
445 AM AST Mon Feb 24 2025

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED FOR THE SOUTHERN
PLAINS AND WEST COAST OF PUERTO RICO...

Winds will persist from the east at 15 to 20 mph, with stronger
gusts along the local region. Additionally, for late morning into
the afternoon hours, a drier air mass has move into the islands,
resulting in relative humidities dropping into the mid 40s to
mid-50s at times. These conditions, along with mostly dry
vegetation and soils, will create an elevated fire risk for the
southern and western coast of Puerto Rico. These conditions will
be more likely between 10 AM and 4 PM AST today.

Fire and emergency officials should be aware that weather
conditions are becoming more conducive for the ignition and
spread of wildfires.

Fire danger statements are issued when fire weather conditions
are approaching, but not meeting or exceeding, Red Flag Warning
criteria.
