...New LONG TERM...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today and tonight)
Issued at 202 AM CDT Wed Jul 3 2024

An upper level ridge will continue to dominate the weather across
West Central Texas through the next 24 hours. High temperatures
today will be a degree or two less hot than what we saw yesterday,
but still well above normal. Much of the Big Country and Concho
Valley are forecast to top out around 105, so have issued a Heat
Advisory for these locations from 1 PM through 7 PM. Elsewhere,
expect highs in the upper 90s to around 103. Breezy conditions are
again anticipated with south winds increasing to 10 to 15 mph, with
higher gusts, by mid to late morning. Expect overnight lows in the
mid 70s to near 80.

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday through Tuesday)
Issued at 440 AM CDT Wed Jul 3 2024

Little change expected for Independence Day with hot, dry and
breezy conditions continuing. Another Heat Advisory may be needed
primarily across the Big Country where heat indices will approach
105 degrees. Changes to our weather begin on Friday, as an upper
trough moves across the central and northern Plains states, with
an associated cold front dropping south into the area during the
day. The front will bring some relief to the hot and dry pattern
we`ve been in, with cooler temperatures and an increase in rain
chances across the area. Low rain chances begin across the Big
Country Thursday night, with a medium chance (40 to 50 percent)
for showers and thunderstorms across most of the area on Friday.
Temperatures will be considerably cooler on Friday, especially
across the Big Country where afternoon highs should only reach
the lower 90s. Farther south, temperatures will be a little
warmer with highs in the mid and upper 90s. Rain chances will
continue Friday night into Saturday, as the front sags farther
south through most of the area. Temperatures on Saturday will be
even cooler, due to quite a bit of cloud cover around, with highs
mainly in the upper 80s and lower 90s.

An unsettled pattern will persist across the area Sunday into
early next week, with troughing across the Plains and the upper
ridge anchored over the Desert Southwest. Complicating the
forecast is the eventual track of Hurricane Beryl as it heads
across the southwest Gulf of Mexico towards far south Texas Sunday
into Monday per latest Hurricane Center track. There is plenty of
uncertainty at this time but we could see some effects from Beryl
as early as Monday but more likely by Tuesday and Wednesday. For
now, will maintain low precipitation chances during this time
frame, along with cooler temperatures. Sunday will be dry, with
highs mainly in the mid and upper 90s, with highs Monday through
mid week cooling into the upper 80s and lower 90s.
