.SHORT TERM...
(Tonight and Thursday)
Issued at 1215 PM CDT Wed Oct 8 2025

The upper-level high will shift westward slight by tonight, with
continued benign weather for much of West Central Texas tonight
and into Thursday. However, a slight chance of isolated showers
and thunderstorms are possible mainly across the Northern Edwards
Plateau through early this evening. Expect winds from the
northeast to east today at 5-15 mph, becoming light and variable
again overnight, under partly cloudy to mostly clear skies and
overnight lows in the low to mid 60s. Highs on Thursday are
expected to reach into the mid 80s to low 90s.

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday night through next Wednesday)
Issued at 112 PM CDT Wed Oct 8 2025

The upper-level ridge that has resulted in warm weather is expected
to maintain it`s grip on west Texas this weekend into early next
week. Although there was a passage of a surface frontal boundary
this week, southerly return flow will quickly set up starting
Friday. This will push high temperatures into the low 90s for much
of the area this weekend through early next week. This is 5-10
degrees above normal for this time of year but is not expected to be
near record for this weekend. For reference, records for the 10th-
12th are around 100, last set in 2020. By early next week, however,
highs could be "near-record" with highs in the low to mid 90s (the
record for Abilene on Oct 14th is 94). A drier airmass will also
move into the region on Friday with dewpoints dropping to the upper
40s and low 50s on Saturday. Given the stout ridge and drier airmass
in place, rain chances will remain next to nothing through the
middle of next week.
