Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
234 PM CDT Sat Apr 26 2025

.DISCUSSION...
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible late this afternoon
through tonight across portions of extreme Northeast Texas, Southeast
Oklahoma, and Southwest Arkansas, along a stationary front and as an
upper level disturbance ejects east-northeast across Eastern Oklahoma
into Western Arkansas. Some storms may be severe this evening over
these areas, before hotter and drier conditions build into the region
Sunday through much of Tuesday. While patchy fog again can`t be ruled
out late tonight, min RH`s Sunday will range from 45-50%, with southerly
20ft winds nearing 10 mph. While similar min RH`s are expected Monday,
20ft winds should be a bit stronger at 10-15 mph, with afternoon temperatures
nearing/exceeding 90 degrees each day. The approach of a weak frontal
system Tuesday which should become stationary over the Southern Plains
will focus an increasing in showers and thunderstorms over these areas,
but should largely remain just northwest of the region before possibly
drifting southeast into the I-30 corridor Tuesday night. However, showers
and thunderstorms, some of which may be severe with heavy rainfall
possible, should increase across much of East Texas, Southeast Oklahoma,
Southwest Arkansas, and possibly Northwest Louisiana Wednesday, before
shifting east across the remainder of the region Wednesday night and
Thursday with the passage of the weak surface front. However, very
warm (above normal) temperatures will persist even in wake of this
frontal passage into late week into next weekend, with dry conditions
persisting through at least mid-weekend as well.
