DECEMBER ALSO RANKED AS THE 9TH WETTEST ON RECORD, BEHIND THE RECORD OF 15.55 INCHES SET BACK IN 1884. DESPITE THE ABNORMALLY WARM AND WET MONTH, NO DAILY TEMPERATURE OR RAINFALL RECORDS WERE TIED OR SET IN SHREVEPORT. WHILE NO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WERE REPORTED ACROSS THE SHREVEPORT/BOSSIER CITY AREA DURING DECEMBER, STRONG THUNDERSTORMS THAT MOVED THROUGH ON THE 28TH PRODUCED A 49 MPH WIND GUST AT THE SHREVEPORT REGIONAL AIRPORT. FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR OF 2024, SHREVEPORT RANKED AT THE WARMEST YEAR ON RECORD WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 70.6 DEGREES, SURPASSING THE PREVIOUS RECORD OF 69.8 DEGREES SET IN 2023. SHREVEPORT ALSO RANKED AS THE SECOND WETTEST YEAR ON RECORD HAVING OBSERVED 72.46 INCHES OF RAIN, BEHIND 81.99 INCHES SET BACK IN 1991. THREE MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR RECORDED MONTHLY TOTALS IN EXCESS OF 10 INCHES (JANUARY, APRIL, AND MAY), WITH DECEMBER JUST SHY OF THE 10 INCH MARK WITH 9.16 INCHES. $$ 15
