Dry weather will continue through Monday evening. Two low pressure systems will bring chances of precipitation to the area Monday night through Tuesday night with a few showers lingering into Wednesday, and again Wednesday night into early Friday morning. The timing for the onset of precipitation with both systems is slightly later than previous forecasts. Model consensus is for greater precipitation amounts and coverage with the second system. For the first system, the track of the low has trended towards the more northern/wetter solutions, and as such rainfall amounts and proabilities have increased. The National Blend of Models has a 55-85% chance of rainfall totals exceeding 0.10" for the coast and valleys and a 40-75% chance of rainfall totals exceeding 0.25", with the highest probabilities over southern San Diego County and decreasing northward. For the mountains, there is a 60-80% chance of rainfall/liquid-equivalent exceeding 0.25" and a 40-75% chance of exceeding 0.5", highest on the coastal slopes of the San Diego County mountains. There is a 15% chance of rainfall totals exceeding 0.10" in the high desert desert, a 25-35% chance in the Coachella Valley, and a 45-65% chance in the San Diego County deserts. Snow levels will start near 6000-6500 ft Monday evening, falling to 4500-5000 ft Tuesday morning, then rising to around 6000 ft again Tuesday afternoon. Ensembles continue to show a weak and short-duration Atmospheric River on Thursday For Wednesday night through Friday, The National Blend of Models has a 80-95% chance of rainfall totals exceeding 0.50" and a 40-80% chance of rainfall totals exceeding 1" for the coast and valleys. For the mountains there is a 85-95% chance of rainfall/liquid-equivalent totals exceeding 1", highest on the coastal slopes of the San Gabriel mountains. There is a 40-85% chance of totals exceeding 2" on the coastal slopes of the mountains, and a 30-40% chance of exceeding 4" on the coastal slopes of the San Gabriel Mountains. For the high deserts, there is a 65-85% chance of rainfall totals exceed 0.25", and a 20-30% chance of totals exceeding 0.50". For the low deserts, there is a 35-70% chance of totals exceeding 0.25", highest near the San Gorgonio Pass and along the foothills. Snow levels Wednesday evening will be around 6000-6500 ft, falling to 4500-5500 ft by Thursday morning and 3300-3700 ft Friday morning as precipitation comes to an end. There is a 20-40% chance of light showers continuing into Saturday, with the potential for another storm the following Monday or Tuesday, though confidence on details is low. $$ SS
