...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT MONDAY...

.DISCUSSION...
Above average temperatures persist across the Santa Ana Mountains
with an Excessive Heat Warning in effect until Monday evening.
The marine layer remains notably shallow, with the lower
elevations seeing fair moisture recovery (~50-70%) Sunday and
Monday mornings, but poor recoveries (15-30%) for the higher
elevations. Afternoon humidity falls to around 15-20% both Sunday
and Monday afternoon. Winds remain light and generally variable,
with terrain-dominated wind directions.

.7 DAY OUTLOOK...
Upper level ridging remains in control across the southwestern US
through the weekend and into early next week, but gives way to an
upper trough by mid week. This pattern favors continued well-above
normal temperatures through Tuesday, but trending closer to normal
by Thurs/Fri. The marine layer should gradually deepen through
mid-week as well, with somewhat better moisture recovery,
primarily for the lower elevations. No precipitation is expected
through next week.
