Fire Weather Planning Forecast for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri
National Weather Service Springfield MO
215 PM CDT Fri May 16 2025

.DISCUSSION...

A cold front over the area will continue moving eastward this afternoon,
resulting in isolated to scattered showers and
thunderstorms over the eastern Ozarks.

With the frontal passage, winds will slowly shift from southerly
to westerly, with winds out of the southwest for most of the day.
These will be breezy at 15-20 mph sustained winds and gusts up to
30-35 mph at times. Drier air behind the front will also drop
MinRHs into the 25-35% range west of Highway 65.

Winds will then calm down after sunset, staying westerly and
northwesterly into Saturday.

Additional thunderstorms will be possible late Saturday into
Sunday morning and then Sunday night into Tuesday.
