Fire Weather Planning Forecast for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri
National Weather Service Springfield MO
245 PM CDT Sun Mar 9 2025

.DISCUSSION...

A dry air mass will be over the region today through early in the
week as humidity values drop to around 20 to 30% each afternoon.
Highs will warm into the low to mid 60s today, with highs warming
into the 70s the rest of the week. Winds will be light today, then
will increase out of the southwest on Monday. A Red Flag Warning
has been issued for Monday afternoon for portions of southeast
Kansas and southwest Missouri due to low relative humidities and
gusty winds. There is a 10 to 40% chance for some scattered rain
showers and maybe a few rumbles of thunder on Wednesday, but all
locations may not be effected. Additional rain chances,
potentially more widespread, will then occur late in the week, but
there are still questions on the exact track and timing of the
system.
