.DISCUSSION...Based on the forecast calling for stronger westerly
winds through the Strait of Juan de Fuca with a Gale Watch in
place, increased southwesterly winds are likely across western
Lopez Island. The probabilities of sustained winds reaching 20 mph
at 2200 hrs is 10-15 percent, by 2300 hrs that probability
increases to between 20 and 25 percent, decreasing quickly
thereafter. Probabilities of frequent gusts over 25 mph from
2200-2300 hrs is 20 to 30 percent. Chances of gusts higher than 30
mph are more focused across southern Lopez Island, with minimal
chances for the area where the event will be held. Winds
throughout the event will be of a westerly to southwesterly
origin.
