Hydrometeorological Discussion
National Weather Service / California Nevada RFC / Sacramento CA
800 AM PST Sat Dec 6 2025

...DRY CONDITIONS FOR MOST AREAS AS HIGH PRESSURE REMAINS OFFSHORE...
...SHOWERS ALONG THE NRN BORDER THROUGH MID WEEK AS MULTIPLE SYSTEMS
SLIDE DOWN THE RIDGE INTO THE PACNW...

.METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS (SAT AM - FRI AM)...

The same pattern continues with a strong ridge of high pressure over
the eastern Pacific and fog down the Central Valley. At the moment,
det models and most ensembles have this ridge sticking around for
the foreseeable future. This means dry conditions for most of the
region and above normal temperatures in areas not under any
persistent fog/low clouds. For the next six days, still expecting
some systems to rotate around the ridge into the PacNW sending
occasional showers into nrn CA, the srn OR Cascades, and sometimes
nrn NV. The NBM and WPC guidance have trended a bit wetter over the
Smith and srn OR Cascades leading to an increase in QPF by 0.25-
0.50" and 0.50-1" respectively. QPF totals through 12z Fri: 0.50-
1.30" Smith Basin, 1-2.50" srn OR Cascades, and a few hundredths to
0.10" for the rest of far nrn CA.

Freezing levels 7-9 kft along the northern border today and up to
13.5 kft through srn CA. Levels rising early next week back up to
10.5-14 kft for most of the rest of the week rising a bit further up
north to 11-13 kft.
