Rating: EF-1 Estimated Peak Wind: 90-95 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.15 miles Path Width /maximum/: 150 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: September 27, 2024 Start Time: 4:44 PM EDT Start Location: 3 Miles NE of Keeling Start Lat/Lon: 36.747/-79.238 End Date: September 27, 2024 End Time: 4:46 PM EDT End Location: 3.1 Miles NE of Keeling End Lat/Lon: 36.749/-79.238 A survey team from NWS Blacksburg found evidence of a short lived EF-1 tornado that touchdowned near the intersection of Dodson Road and Slatesville Road. This tornado lifted approximately 0.15 miles north near Slatesville Road. Several trees were blown down by the tornado, but no damage to structures were observed. The NWS in Blacksburg would like to extend their thanks to the Pittsylvania County Department of Public Safety for their assistance with the survey. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$
