...2024 Growing Season Over...

The 2024 growing season is over for all of northwest North
Carolina, southwest Virginia, and southeast West Virginia as of
today. While locations west of the Blue Ridge and the southern
Shenandoah Valley witnessed widespread freezing temperatures on
the morning of October 18, there has still not been a widespread
freeze for the Piedmont and for Roanoke County. However, it is now
beyond two weeks past the median 1991-2020 climatological date for
a first freeze east of the Blue Ridge, so no more frost and
freeze products will be issued until Spring 2025.
