...FLOOD WARNING FOR A DAM FLOODGATE RELEASE IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM
EDT WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding along the Hyco River caused by upstream dam
  release continues.

* WHERE...A portion of south central Virginia, including the
  following county, Halifax.

* WHEN...Until 300 PM EDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of the Hyco River and its surrounding
  tributaries is occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to
  flooding, including Highway 501, Woodsdale Road, Bethel Hill Road,
  Virgilina Road, East Hyco Road, Lowrey Road, Kingwoods Road,
  Buckshoal Road. It will take several hours for water levels to
  recede back within the river banks.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 247 PM EDT, an upstream floodgate release continues to
    cause flooding in the warned area.
  - Backwater flooding may also affect the following streams and
    drainages...
    Grassy Creek, Aarons Creek, Bales Spring Branch, Coleman
    Creek, Big Bluewing Creek, and Bowes Branch.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    any property and interests along the Hyco River between Hyco
    Lake and Kerr Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
