...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 615 AM EDT THIS MORNING...
...REPLACES FLASH FLOOD WARNING...

* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of north central North Carolina, including the
  following counties, Stokes and Surry.

* WHEN...Until 615 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
  remain closed due to flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1223 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is
    already occurring in the warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches
    of rain have fallen.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    Beaverdam Creek, Ararat River, Baker Branch, Archies Creek
    and Beaver Creek.
    Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in
    the warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Mount Airy, Flat Rock, Dobson, Pilot Mountain, Walnut Cove,
    Danbury and Francisco.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
