The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  South Central Ashe County in northwestern North Carolina...
  Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina...
  Southwestern Wilkes County in northwestern North Carolina...

* Until 245 AM EDT Wednesday.

* At 842 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2.5 and 4 inches of
  rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are
  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected
  to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

  Foscoe...

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Elk Creek, Clear Branch, Cove Creek, Dutch Creek, Craborchard
  Creek, Dugger Creek, Beaver Creek, Church Branch, Brushy Fork and
  Darnell Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
Service by calling toll free at 1...8 6 6...2 1 5...4 3 2 4. Reports
and pictures can also be shared on the National Weather Service
