...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTH CENTRAL BUCHANAN...
NORTHWESTERN MCDOWELL...SOUTHEASTERN MINGO AND SOUTHWESTERN WYOMING
COUNTIES THROUGH 900 PM EDT...

At 830 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Hinch, or 17 miles east of Williamson, moving east at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Welch, Hanover, R.d. Bailey Lake, Gilbert Creek, Hinch, Red Jacket,
Gilbert, Davy, Iaeger, Clear Fork, Panther, Coal Mountain, Hampden,
Pie, Wolf Pen, Meador, and Baileysville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for
southwestern Virginia.
