.DISCUSSION...
Warm and dry weather continues one more day today. A moisture laden
system coming out of the Gulf will bring beneficial rain showers
into the area early Tuesday morning, ahead of a cold front that will
bring more showers, and possibly embedded thunderstorms, Tuesday
afternoon and night.
All told, rainfall amounts could exceed an inch across much of the
area, helping to squash drought conditions festering across portions
of the area. However, locally higher amounts of upwards of two
inches could lead to localized flash flooding, particularly in urban
and poor drainage areas.
By Wednesday, the cold front will have pushed southeast of the
central Appalachians, ushering in a much cooler and drier airmass
from northwest to southeast during the day.
The high will stick around for the balance of the week, with dry and
seasonably cool weather. The lowest low temperatures will be found
in the sheltered valleys within and near the mountains, where
temperatures could drop into the mid 30s, leading to a risk of frost
at least Thursday and Friday mornings.
