.DISCUSSION...
An arctic front will move across the state this morning making its
way to the area by the mid to late afternoon. Winds will
initially be from the west/northwest at 15 to 25 mph with
periodic gusts of 30 to 35 mph. Snow showers begin to develop by
the mid afternoon with the nearing of the front. Snow will remain
mostly light with some snow banding possibly developing and creating
moderate to heavy snowfall at times. However, the bulk of the
snowfall is expected to remain away from the area. Snow
accumulation will be minimal with at most a coating to 1 inch,
higher amounts are possible if snow bands develop nearby. The
majority of snowfall comes to an end by the late evening, with
light snow showers lingering through the overnight into Saturday
morning. Temperatures will warm to the low 30s today before
dropping quickly with the frontal passage. Overnight lows will
drop into the low teens with little improvement expected during
the day Saturday. Cool temperatures combined with breezy winds
will lead to wind chill values in the teens through much of the
day today.
