...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT EDGECOMBE AND SOUTHEASTERN
HALIFAX COUNTIES THROUGH 645 PM EDT...

At 559 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from 12 miles northeast of Rocky Mount to 8 miles
northeast of Tarboro to 6 miles north of Bruce. Movement was east at
15 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Tarboro, Scotland Neck, Princeville, Whitakers, Hobgood, Conetoe,
Speed, Leggett, and Battleboro.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Heavy rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

These thunderstorms are producing an excessive amount of deadly cloud
to ground lightning. Seek shelter indoors and stay away from windows.
If you cannot seek shelter indoors, an enclosed vehicle can provide
safe shelter. Deadly lightning strikes can occur well ahead of an
approaching storm, prior to the arrival of rain and wind.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until midnight EDT for
central North Carolina.
