...A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for portions of the
area for Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening...
.Discussion...
Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected across the district
tonight, with one or two storms possibly becoming strong to severe
near the eastern border. The main threat from the strongest storms
will be strong gusty outflow winds around 60 mph, hail up to 1 inch
in diameter, brief periods of heavy rain and cloud to ground
lightning.
High pressure will be in place tomorrow, providing for very isolated
convection and hot temperatures. The ridge breaks down on Thursday,
allowing for an increase in storm activity but continued hot. In
fact, temperatures on both Wednesday and Thursday will be well above
normal, and Thursday will see critical fire weather conditions
developing across much of Fire Zone 220, and the northern sections
of Fire Zones 223 and 224.
Cooler and more unsettled conditions are expected for Friday and
Saturday, then gradual warming Sunday through Tuesday.
Ventilation rates will be Poor this evening across the district,
then inversions will start to break between 0900 and 1000 Wednesday
morning. Smoke dispersion will improve to Very Good to Excellent for
all areas by 1400 and remain favorable through 1900. Similar smoke
dispersion trends are anticipated for Thursday.
