.Discussion...
Critical fire weather is not expected through the next work week,
though drier conditions from Friday into the weekend are becoming
more likely. For now, winds look to remain below critical
thresholds.
Today will bring another round of impactful rain and snow to the
high country. An additional 2 to 3 inches of rain is expected over
the San Juans and the Rio Grande Valley in the next 24 hours on top
of saturated soils and full waterways from this weekend`s heavy
rain. A Flood Watch remains in effect through Noon on Tuesday for
these areas, and flash flood and water impacts will be the main
forecast concern through the rest of tonight and tomorrow.
For the plains, expect much cooler temperatures and mainly dry
weather through most of our Monday. Rain chances return to our
forecast later this evening and into the overnight hours.
Daily chances for showers, thunderstorms, and snow for our highest
peaks will remain in the forecast off and on throughout the rest of
the work week, with a pattern change towards cool and dry weather
arriving around the Friday or Saturday timeframe.
Afternoon smoke dispersions will be generally poor over the high
country, fair on the plains, and good over the San Luis Valley
today, and good or better for all zones tomorrow.
