...TROPICAL DEPRESSION 24W FORMS NEAR YAP PROPER...
...LOCALLY HEAVY SHOWERS AND GUSTY WINDS CONTINUING THROUGH MONDAY...

Invest 90W is now upgraded to Tropical Depression 24W. 24W is now
centered 60 miles north-northwest of Yap Proper near 10.2N 137.6E,
moving northwest at 20 mph. 24W is moving quickly northwest and now
looks unlikely to result in any watches or warning as it exits the
area. However, the forecast position of 24W, at least through Monday,
will result in strong gusty winds of 25 to 35 mph (20 to 30 knots)
with gusts of 30 to 40 mph (25 to 35 knots). Along with the gusty
winds, Yap can expect numerous, locally heavy, showers to develop
overnight, with stronger gusts, up to 45 mph, with the heavier
showers and thunderstorms. For Palau, scattered showers with locally
heavy rainfall, isolated thunderstorms, and strong gusty winds near
heavier showers and thunderstorms are expected through Monday as
well. 24W is moving northwest and model guidance shows it moving out
of the area quickly. A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for
Yap, however, no other advisories, watches, or warnings are expected.

Folks across Yap State and the Republic of Palau should continue to
monitor local weather forecasts from the National Weather Service in
Guam, and your local Weather Service Office and emergency management
office in case conditions expected with TD 24W changes. This Special
Weather Statement will only be updated if conditions warrant.
