...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IS CANCELLED...

Buoy and altimetry data suggest the east swell is no longer supportive
of hazardous surf of 8 feet or greater along east facing reefs. A
large, long-period north swell is expected to enter the region and
move into Kosrae Friday, building surf along north facing reefs. Surf
may become hazardous along north facing reefs Friday, which could
result in the issuance of a new High Surf Advisory for Kosrae.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THURSDAY TO 3 PM CHST
SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 9 to 11 feet.

* WHERE...North facing reefs of Pohnpei.

* WHEN...From 3 PM Thursday to 3 PM ChST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized
  beach erosion.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A large, long-period north swell will move
  into Pohnpei Thursday night causing surf to become hazardous along
  north facing reefs. With the full moon around Friday, high tides
  will be higher than normal which may result in some minor wave
  splash up in low lying areas of northern shores.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to
dangerous surf conditions.
